Key Attributes
With experience of direct and indirect sales, the
demands of running a business and the need for constant change,
the benefits of coaching was something that Colette wishes
had been available to her earlier in her career. She says
"At the time you are so immersed in the immediate demands
that taking time to reflect and review seems to be a luxury
you can ill afford but with hindsight the decisions both business
and personal would have been made from a much clearer perspective.
To do this I eventually chose to take some time out which
opened up the opportunity for me to really assess my past
experiences and actually make a conscious choice on where
I wanted to go next. Coaching allows you to do that without
such a drastic action, it allows you to regain control, examine
the areas that need to be improved and make the decisions
with the benefit of a broader perspective.”
Combining coaching with a programme of team development, using
facilitation and skills training brings a unique and holistic
approach. It aids the creation of great teams, developing
the individual, improving performance and maintaining commitment
and energy, Colette says "Skills training is great for
creating a framework but the real benefit is in establishing
behaviours that feed success, coaching offers us the opportunity
to review, refocus and reinforce throughout the journey. It
is this that establishes real change in behaviours to the
benefit of the individual and the organisation.
"Business is based on communication. With increased emotional
awareness we become tuned in to the needs of those around
us, our organisation and our own personal needs and this increases
our ability to act more clearly and with purpose, as a result
we assume responsibility for each and every action we take.
This leads to us better understanding our impact on the organisation,
our colleagues and ourselves.”
